Lachung is a small apple-growing village on the way to Yumthang Valley, and its main job on a Sikkim itinerary is as the overnight base before continuing further north. That said, it's genuinely pleasant on its own — a working monastery, orchard-lined lanes, and the kind of quiet that's harder to find in Gangtok.
Most travelers spend one night here before an early departure to Yumthang and, permits allowing, Zero Point beyond it.
