We know which pass is closed before you ask.
Twenty-five years of guiding travelers through Himachal, Ladakh, and the wider Himalaya: customized routes, licensed guides, and government-approved expertise from an operator based right here in the mountains.

Built by someone who actually drove every one of these roads.
Sanjay Thakur started The Himalayan Ramble in Shimla in 2000, with one idea: travel through the Himalaya should be hassle-free, not a gamble on an operator who's never seen the pass you're asking about.
Twenty-five years on, that's still the job: customized routes, licensed guides and porters who know the terrain and the culture, and a small Sanjauli office that has now guided thousands of travelers from India and abroad through Himachal, Ladakh, and Jammu & Kashmir. Approved by the Department of Tourism, Himachal Pradesh, and the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
Seven regions. One operator who knows the roads.
Every region below is built place by place from our own routes, not a brochure list. Pick one, or tell us the shape of the trip you're after.

Himachal Pradesh
Shimla, Manali, Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu. Our home turf since day one.

Ladakh
Leh, Nubra, Pangong, Zanskar, Kargil.

Jammu & Kashmir
Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonmarg, Jammu.

Uttarakhand
Nainital, Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Dehradun, Auli.

Sikkim
Gangtok, Pelling, Lachung, Yumthang, Nathula.

Delhi
The usual gateway stop before heading north.

Chandigarh
The last stop before Himachal, on most routes north.
Trips we've already built, ready to adapt to you.
Frozen Spiti Valley
Ice climbing, snowbound monasteries, and snowshoeing through a valley that closes off to most of the world every winter.
See Spiti →Kinnaur – Spiti – Chandratal – Manali
The full circuit: apple orchards to high-altitude desert to a lake that turns silver at dusk, in one continuous route.
See Kinnaur →Shimla – Kullu – Manali
The classic Himachal route, done properly: colonial hill-station mornings to valley orchards to alpine passes.
See Shimla →Zanskar Range Expedition
Advanced trekking and Class III–V rafting on the Zanskar River, deep in Ladakh.
See Zanskar →What travelers say, straight from Google.

“Had a great experience with Mr. Sanjay planning our trip covering Delhi, Mussoorie, Shimla, Manali, Kasol, and Chandigarh. Everything was well organized and smooth throughout the journey. He was very helpful, responsive, and made sure all arrangements were taken care of. The trip was hassle-free and we truly enjoyed every place. Would definitely recommend him for travel planning!”

“We recently rented a Tempo Traveller for our Spiti Valley trip, and the experience was absolutely amazing! The vehicle was clean, spacious, and perfect for the long, challenging mountain routes. What really stood out was our driver — extremely patient, calm, and clearly very experienced with the terrain. He navigated the tricky roads with confidence, making us feel safe and relaxed throughout the journey.”

“I had a great experience with the Himalayan Rumble team on our Shimla to Spiti trip. A special thanks to Chetan and Sanjay for their exceptional support and coordination throughout the journey. The hotel locations were absolutely spectacular, offering stunning views and great comfort. Despite the toughest snow conditions, the trip was incredibly well-organized, making us feel safe and well taken care of at every step. Kudos to the entire team for making this adventure smooth and memorable!”

“I had an incredible experience with The Himalayan Ramble on the 4-day Kinnar Kailash, Pwari, Rakchham, and Chhitkul tour led by Sanjay Thakur. The journey was filled with breathtaking views, challenging yet rewarding treks, and immersive cultural interactions. Sanjay's expertise and guidance were invaluable, ensuring our safety and enhancing the overall experience. From the sacred sites of Kinner Kailash to the charming villages of Rakchham and Chhitkul, each day brought new adventures and memories. I highly recommend The Himalayan Ramble and Sanjay Thakur for anyone seeking an unforgettable Himalayan adventure.”

“They provided a very good vehicle. The driver was very friendly, on time, and very supportive. On request they took us to places which were not mentioned in the itinerary without any additional amount. Overall we are very happy with the tour operator.”

“Planned a winter Spiti expedition with The Himalayan Ramble — great driver (Chetan Negi). Home-stays were great with good scenic beauty (though there was a water crisis due to winter, FYI). Great planning, all-over great experience. Thanks, The Himalayan Ramble.”
